Sure, there are tons of veggie-forward restaurants in The District, but how many of them offer a menu that’s also 100% gluten-free?

Whether you’re craving a sit-down vegan vibe or need to grab something grain-free on-the-go, these two local restaurants from one awesome company have you covered.

BRING ON THE BEETS

First, there’s Little Beet Table, which serves lunch and dinner every night in Chevy Chase, while its more casual, little sister restaurant (and a favorite of ours), The Little Beet, just expanded with a new location down the road in Pentagon City Mall. Both plant-powered concepts hail from New York, where they were among the city’s OG gluten-free go-tos. And no matter which location you pop into, you can expect a bright, airy atmosphere that makes healthy eating fun.

At The Little Beet, you’ll find a neon light that reads, “It’s all good”—and it really is—along with tons of grab-and-go choices that we can’t stop drooling over. Think easy, build-a-bowl options made with locally-sourced ingredients. Start with a base, like quinoa and amaranth or field greens, and then pile on the veggie sides, like Delicata Squash with honey vinegar and pecorino cheese or, yes, a beet option with goat cheese and pistachios. Add Seared Salmon or Sweet n’ Spicy Tofu for your protein before drizzling one of the vegan sauces over the entire thing — the tangy Turmeric Tahini is calling our name!

And while we could go on and on about the breakfast bowls and parfaits, you’ll have to trust us that dishes like the Chai-Spiced Quinoa Oatmeal are worth digging into because we’ve got other delicious eats to get to — like the ones over at Little Beet Table.

FARM-TO-TABLE EATS

If you have a little more time on your hands, then make your way over to The Collection at Chevy Chase for a full-service, seasonally-driven experience. This wellness-inspired selection at Little Beet Table is full of wholesome apps, innovative entrées, and incredible veggie dishes that you can enjoy with a pint of cider, a glass of wine, or a refreshing cocktail (Coconut Whiskey Sour, anyone?)

Order the vegan Blistered Shishito Peppers with pickled shiitake and sunflower miso for the table while you attempt to decide between all of the gluten-free goodness. But don’t get too ahead of yourself with the apps — there’s so much more to come.

The Korean Rice Cakes with gochujang and mushroom bacon promise to be a spicy vegan main, while the Green Circle Chicken served on top of butternut squash and preserved lemon is an absolute flavor bomb. And because we can’t say no to dessert, we suggest finishing off your meal with the hazelnut-filled Profiteroles or Warm Apple Crumble with cranberry chutney.

One thing’s for certain — whether you’re swinging by The Little Beet for a quick bite or settling in at Little Beet Table for a full-on meal, you’re guaranteed a colorful plate packed with fresh veggies that can’t be beet!
