It’s here, folks- the official start of the fall season. While everyone is extra pumped about pumpkin spice, apple picking, and cozying up in sweaters, there’s even more to be excited about on the fitness front. From Goat Yoga to the FALL Fest 10K and The Marine Corps Marathon, there’s a little something for everyone this October in DC.

Ex2 Adventures

What better way to experience the lovely fall foliage than a trail run? It’s time to run off those pumpkin spice lattes--head out to Hemlock Overlook Park in Clifton, VA for a challenging half or 10k race as you run up hills, over rivers, and around rocks and roots.

Goat Yoga

Apparently Goat Yoga is a thing. But there’s no punny name for it yet (Goga?!) Shrader Farm in Clarksville, MD is bringing together goats and yogis. Your ticket will get you a yoga class, goat time, and wine, cheese, and fruit to munch. (Don’t worry, there’s feed for the goats--so they don’t eat yours!)

Festival of Leaves 5k, 10k, and half

Drink in the crisp mountain air and the scent of dry crackling leaves. The Festival of Leaves offers you multiple distance options to explore Front Royal, VA and relish the beautiful season. No better way to celebrate than with a (free) slice of pie at the finish!

Pi Pub Run

This 3.14-mile run (yep, that’s pi!) kicks off October 18th and will happen the third Wednesday of every month. After your run around the District, refuel on half price apps and drink specials at Pi Pizzeria.

Make a Wish Trailblaze Challenge

A new kind of marathon (and a tad longer). Instead of racing, you’re hiking 26.6 miles along the Catoctin Trail in Maryland—all to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. All levels welcome—come challenge yourself and raise money for an awesome cause!

Namas Day is coming to DC. This October, George Mason University will transform into a one-day yogi haven, hosting workshops on movement, meditation, and mindfulness by top presenters. You can buy a pass for a single session, half day, or whole day. Don’t forget your mat!

Marine Corps Marathon

An absolute must if you’re a marathoner. This year celebrates the 42nd running of “The People’s Marathon.” The race starts between the Pentagon and the Arlington National Cemetery—in recognition of all who serve—and ends at the Marine Corps War Memorial. Come out and earn your Eagle, Globe, and Anchor medal.

Ghost, Goblin, and Ghouls Spooktacular 5k

Pull out your costume—it’s time for a “spooktacular” Halloween run through Ashburn, VA. Doesn’t matter what your time is; if your costume is awesome, you’ll get a prize. And either way, everyone leaves the course a winner with a participation medal and a bag of Halloween goodies!
