There’s nothing better than digging into a delicious meal that’s made with feel-good ingredients. And that’s exactly what you can expect from Little Sesame — a fast-casual restaurant treating DC to healthy Mediterranean dishes with big flavor.
Serving Up Something Special
This little slice of heaven was created when two chefs (one of whom grew up right here in the capital) decided to open a place that combines their culinary backgrounds, commitment to responsible farming practices, and love of great food.
And these guys are so determined to bring high-quality, ethically-sourced meals to the masses that they frequently travel to farms far and wide to get their hands dirty and learn everything they can about the ingredients — from how they’re grown to innovative new ways to cook them.
Healthy Eats On Deck
And Little Sesame’s dedication to their craft plays out in their menu — it’s packed with mouth-watering hummus bowls, pita sandwiches, salads, and (dairy-free) sweets that you’ll be dreaming about long after you’ve had your last bite.
Sink your teeth into selections like their whole roasted cauliflower pita stuffed to the brim and topped with tahini, chopped turmeric pickle, and everything spice. If you’re looking for something a little more classic, you can’t go wrong with the chicken shawarma hummus with herb tahini, pickled red onion, and fresh za’atar (don’t forget the warm pita on the side).
To satisfy that sweet tooth, order up a cone piled high with their vanilla tahini or dark chocolate Turkish soft serve. We’re drooling just thinking about it.
Not Their First Rodeo
If you’re thinking this isn’t the first time you’ve heard of Little Sesame, then you’d be right. Before opening their L St. location at the end of August 2018, they were permanently housed in the basement of DGS Delicatessen in Dupont Circle.
Whether the chefs at Little Sesame are under the DGS roof or their very own—including a spot in Chinatown that opened in March 2019—they’re on a mission to create “a community of eaters savoring authentic flavors, craving memorable experiences and working to leave the world a better place” and that is something we can all get behind.
